To improve the landscape of education in rural area Bhaktivedanta Vidyabhavan (BVV) has undertaken an initiative to strengthen skills in all major aspects of life.
To accomplish this many programs have been initiated.
Main features of such programs are krishi-gau-dharma raksha.
BVV conducted many “Farmers Training Program”. The primary focus of these training programmes is to educate people on the importance and economics of Organic Farming as a sustainable income generation activity and to train farmers in various practices of Organic Farming. Also Guidance on regarding water resource development and soil conservation is given to the farmers.
Farmers need their own seeds to grow their own crops. Lack of proper seeds has resulted in farmer distress, vulnerability to pest attacks and reduced biodiversity. To address these issues BVV has started Seed Conservation. By doing this, farmers can produce their own seeds. Availability of seeds prevents farmers to spend on purchasing genetically modified seeds from the market every time. This reinforces the fact that ‘money saved is money earned’. Seed banks are created both, at the institutional as well as farmer’s level.
It is very well said “That it takes a village to raise a child”. Understanding this BVV, team has started various community programs to enhance the culture of education and values within the kids. The school is planned to be a fusion of Indian traditional architectural style with all the modern amenities. It’s being designed keeping in view the requirements of the nearby villages. It also facilitate the mid-day meal for the students. Plans are on to make it a certified green campus with net-zero energy goals, which makes it a one-of-a-kind school project in the country.
BVV started a goshala in the year 2019, with one cow named Yamuna. Since then, over the last 1.5 years, the herd has increased. Currently there are 30 cows. We have conducted gau puja programs in almost 50 nearby villages to inspire people to keep cows in each houses of villages.
A by-product of this initiative is renewed and rejuvenated enthusiasm amongst villagers to participate and bring the best out of each person.
